The ARCH program helps to link community volunteers with opportunities to accompany those returning to the community from incarceration as they reestablish their lives back in the community.
One of the main programs we support locally with the County is First Step Friday. The Franklin County Reentry Advisory Board recognizes that barriers such as transportation prevent formerly incarcerated people from accessing resources that may help them. To help solve this, agencies that are typically spread across Columbus have been gathered for your convenience in one central location on the first Friday of every month (exception on Fridays that follow a holiday). These agencies include but are not limited to Ohio Means Jobs, Department of Job and Family Services, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Social Security Administration, Franklin County Child Support, Veterans Service Commission, Legal Aid Society of Columbus, etc.
Would you like to Volunteer to help? If you're looking for help or would like to assist others in their reentry to gain information about employment, public transportation, parenting, voting, public benefits, and more, please let us know. First Step Friday occurs every month and can be added to your calendar. We also help link volunteers to programs inside the jail or prison that assist with reentry planning and support, and we would be happy to share more information with you to see if there is a fit!
